About Pocono Cabin & Lake Services
Pocono Cabin & Lake Services is a free, lake-specific directory of the services second-home and short-term-rental owners rely on around Lake Wallenpaupack and Lake Ariel, and in Hawley, Greentown and Tafton.
How we verify listings
- Nothing goes live unverified. A person checks every listing before it's published.
- A listing needs one primary source (the business's own website or Facebook page, or the PA Attorney General's HIC search) or two independent sources (for example a chamber list and a lake-association list).
- Phone, services and service area must each be stated on a page we cite. Every listing shows its sources and the date we last verified it.
- Lakes and towns are never inferred. A business counts for a lake only if it names the lake, and for a town only if it names the town. Serving Hawley doesn't mean serving Lake Wallenpaupack.
- Owner-fit details (absentee owners, rental hosts, year-round or seasonal) come from the business's own words. If a business doesn't say, we show "Not stated", never "No".
- Insurance: we never assert it. If a business says it's insured, we write "{Name} says it is insured".
- PA home-improvement (HIC) registration is shown only when we've checked it on the PA Attorney General's HIC search, with the date. Registration is not an endorsement.
- No Google data. We don't copy ratings, reviews, photos or hours from Google Maps or any review site. Other directories are used only to discover businesses; facts are verified at the source.
- No home addresses. Most providers work from home or the road; we show their service area and base town only. A street address appears only for a shop or office the business publishes.
- We re-check listings regularly and more often in season. Listings not re-verified in time are taken down until they are.
Why some places don't have their own service page
A service page for a lake or town is published only when at least 3 verified providers serve it, and at least one is a local or regional business rather than a national company. Until then, those providers appear on the service's main page and the place page.
Order of listings
Local businesses first, then regional, then national companies. Within those, recently verified listings come first, then those that state more owner-fit details, then alphabetical. Nobody can pay for a higher position. If we offer featured listings later, they'll be clearly labeled. See Advertise.
